As a plane buff i love going to airshows and seeing awesome military aircraft old and new fly around and show off their capabilities. But rarely do you get a chance to see an airplane's construction unless you work fr the manufacturer. Well this video here is a time lapse vid of the assembly (from start to finish), of a new Royal Aussie air force FA-18 Superhornet. Its unfathomable as to the number of parts put into todays modern fighter jets. It makes a B-17 look like a kids erector set.

Im a huge fan of the old Police Squad series with Leslie Neilson as well as the Naked Gun movies. My favorite part of the latter was the epic opening credits sequence where the roof mounted camera of a police cruiser takes us for a ride through some crazy scenes like a roller coaster or a ladies locker room. Well someone decided to use the hood view of a GTA cop car and the title musice from Police Squad and....well....see for yourself.

Well i better explain myself. I know in my last emo-esque post i said things didn't look good for me because i had to go to a summer course. But then i talked to my aunt and she told me that i shouldn't punish myself by not goin just because im not graduating, especially because i performed such a miracle in the form of a b in Math. She said i should still reward myself for the B and go to AC. And i tyhought about it and decided that she had a point. So im definately goin to Anthrocon and lookin forward to it immensely. I got my hotel room so now i need to book my flight and do some serious down to the wire registration, but im definately goin so thats good.

So who here should i expect to see there? Wanna grab a drink at the Tonic? In suit? Like last year? *giggle*

First thing out-of-the-gate, id like to thank everyone who sent me birthday wishes. It really meant alot to me coming from you guys. *gives you all hugs and footpaw rubs*. I was going to post yeaterday that it was my birthday but since im 24 i didn't feel i should shove it in peoples faces. Heh.

Anyways heres the B-Day breakdown.

Friday morning. Got up at 11 and had my coffee and sat down to play GTA IV, which i played until 3:30 at which time i got ready for work. It had rained earier so it was as hot and humid as it could be outside which is where i am usually at work. Got to work at 4:30 and was there til 11 PM. Basically it was just another ordinary day in my life just with a few birthday calls from relatives and LJ wishes from furry friends! Although i did get a nice birthday dinner of corned beef and cabbage my fav!

The whole day i was kind of bummed out a bit because i had to work and everything. But mostly because i had hoped to make it to King Elliots this weekend but i had a final earlier in the week and i was worried that prepping for Elliots would kind of distract me from my studies. Priorities i guess. Oh well theres always the summer one. So anyways im 24 now, getting older and hopeflly more wiser.

Now for the con status. As far as Anthrocon is concerned im still unsure. Money is a bit tight lately because of the tourist season ending. My folks and i all work in retailish stores but my folks work on commish. Latly business has been a bit off and ive had to help out with bills. But id do anything to help my family out and  they pay me back anyways. But hopefully ill get some good birthday cash and my stimulus check should help out. AC however is a real expensive con for me to get to anyways because of reg, flight and hotel room. But well see i guess. The next con id like to hopefully attend wuld be Oklacon. As of now it looks real difficult to get to. Flight would be the biggest expense. Not to mention the nearest airport (OKI) is an hour away. Plus if all goes well i should be graduating this year and by then will be in another college so i dunno.

So anyways thanks for all the birthday comments everyone. It definately made my B-Day special.

What was your first car?

View 501 Answers

Twas a 1989 Volvo 240 DL. I was in my junior year of high school and i had completed my drivers training course and i felt it was time to get a car. But with only 2500 in the bank i knew it wasent gonna be much. My mother is a devoted Volvo driver ever since she had me. Her car list is as follows

1984 Volvo 240 GL, Silver w/ top of the line sunroof (hand cranked), AM/FM Cassette and air conditioning. Bought new.
1987 Volvo 240 Wagon, Blue (provided by our mechanic), no cassette, no folding seats.
1995 Volvo 850 Black. (first leased car)
2000 Volvo S70 Silver
2004 Volvo S60 blue/green
2006 Volvo S40 white (shes hates this thing)

Anyways all our cars up till the S60 were maintained by a friend of my uncles who was a mechanic that specialised in Volvo maintenence. He told us he a had a couple of cars for sale on his property. I was hoping to get a boxy 740 wagon with a turbo but with my parents powers of persuasion settled for a Black 89 240 DL. The car had 118,000 miles but still started up everytime. The interior was tan cloth and quite comfortable with a vinal dash. I called it the "Doberman" Because of the black paint job and tan interior. It also had a custom electric sunroof which wasent offered really on any Volvo of that year. It came from a later model. The engline was a SOHC 2.3 liter B230F 4-cyl which had 114 HP when new. Oddly enough ive seen people stuff 5.0 Mustang engines in them.

Pros of the Car:
Good gas mileage.
Comfortable interior
Good trunk space.
HOT heater.
Kickass in snow.

Cons of the car.
No airbags
No ABS
Roof lining falling down
Seat heaters didn't work
Both front seat frames broken (thanks to my friend).
Lukewarm AC.
One power window broken
Rear window defogger 1/4 worked.

Of course i soon had to get a new starter because soon it wouldn't start unless i either had it in park or with the pedal to the floor. I also had my first accident in it too rear ending an 82 Oldsmobile Cutlass. But it demonstrated the exceptional build quality of a Pre-Ford Volvo. All that was damaged was the diagonal chrome strip on the grille, the bumper and the hood lip. The headlights stayed intact. This is after a 30 MPH hit. But my car always proved its worth in the winter. I don't know what it is about Volvos but they are just fabulous in snow. And with RWD no less. Plus the heater worked so well. It was like being in a roomy fursuit on wheels. It was funny driving a RWD car through the snow passing FWD SUVs that were stuck. I ended up selling it to my neighbors  nephew for like 500 dollars and i hear its still running. Despite all the complaints i made about it i kind of miss it. Especially now that i drive a 2 seat pickup. I used to be able to cram all my friends in it and go anywhere. Lotta good memories in that car.

At first i thought i wasent going to make it because ihad went toFWA. Then i was going to stay at Extended Stay America because of the full room block at the Wyndham plus the rates there were like 83 dollars a night! But luckily Yappy Fox managed to get me a room. And i managed to thank him for that at closing ceremonies.

But of course the main attraction for this year had to be the new wine bar, Tastings. Thatg place was off the WALL! So much wine (which Kage drank), but an equally impressive menu. Of corse that Filet Mignion pizza was awesome along with the olives. Heh. Dex and i went to town on their olives! The owner was really nice to us and made Tastings the official wine bar of the furries. It was also nice to see my first Funday PawPet Show there. Had a great time having lunch and dinner there with old and new friends.

All in all it was a nice laid back con and i definately want to go back next year! And i got a souviner to go with my experience, one of the huge word bubble signs on a stick. Yaya!

So thank you guys for a wonderful time and i hope i see you all again soon!

Well im back from FWA. Got home last night and slept like a log till 3 oclock this afternoon.

Well i must say this con was once again an absolute blast. It was nice to be in familiar territory again as FWA was my first fur con last year. It was quite a differnt experience though being a god level. The dinner was wonderful. I just wish i could have remembered the name of the place we ate at. I was also quite pleased at the final attence and fursuit numbers. Thats quite a bit and who knows what it will be next year. It was a great way to break in my new camcorder which, after viewing my work proves to me that i have a lot to learn about videoing. Anyways onto highs and lows.

Highs of the con: The con started off for me on the most correct foot. Quick and painless 8 hour drive and a smooth check in. After picking up my goodies at reg i dropped my luggage in my room and went downstairs. On the way down the elevator stops at the 6th floor and who should be standing waiting for the elevator but Roxikat in all her busty glory!. So GREAT start to the con! Then later on that night i went out for a quick dinner with Tilt and Foxwell at Taco Bell. First time in a Jeep. Not bad at all. Then of course there was the Meet The Guests of honor panel. I already knew Tilt but it was nice to hear his back story. The God Level Dinner was totally awesome. It was the first time i ever ate in that kind of resturant where the waiters come to you with spits of meat goin "want some of this"? Needless to say i ate good that night! Plus it was good to talk to Tiger Paw, the founder of FWA. Hes a really awesome guy and i thank him in bonches for creating such an enjoyable experience. Then on Saturday there was the fursuit parade which was good. Plus it was awesome seeing Oz Kangaroo getting rolled along. LOL! Then i went to Ruby with Werefox18 and his G-friend, ShadowRunner, and Zowy. Fun stuff and good spring rolls.  2 The Ranting Gryphon once again had me rolling on the floor laughing with his routine. Then Sunday the games were awesome. Total Pandemoniun it was. But Tilt's team won so that was good. Finally there was the closing ceremonies where they announced that the attendance made it into the thousands. Not to mention that there were like 5 or 6 pictures of me in the slideshow. Eeep. Then later on i hung out briefly with Foxwell in the lobby after the Dead Dog party. But of course, if yall know me well enough, the definite high point for me just HAD to have been all the paws i got to play with. LOL! And the great thing is alot of people liked it alot. Hehehehe. But honestly i think one of the best parts was meeting new people like Sammy Stripes, Exile17, Neopan tiger, Foxglove, Pandaguy, Gilmore etc, as well as seeing old friends like Antimon, Wally Wolf, Electropaw, Jaegar Fuchs and Crash Wolf, Santa Fox, Zephyr Panther, Cake Husky, Latin Vixen, Frazzles, Roxikat etc.

Lows of the Con:...................................................................................................................................ummmmmmm.............no Calamity Cougar. Missed him. Heh. Oh and also HotRod was going to bring his 1970 Camaro Drag Car. Not only did it not make it to the hotel but for his efforts in trying to get it there he got a 1500 dollar ticket for illegal drag slicks. I feel bad for it cause i did want to see it.

So anyways in a nutshell the con was a semi truck load of happiness and fun. Made alot of new friends, played with good paws, danced the night away, ate good food, hanged with buds etc. Look forard to next year but for now its back to the old grind of school and work. And as far as Megaplex is concerned it looks a bit shaky. But well see how i do. Laters.

And its also getting expensive. It's not even here yet and ive already spent over a thousand dollars preparing for this thing. 90% went to my truck to get it ready to travel 8 hours to the con, plus the registration for the con itself. now i gotta really start sackin away my cash for this thing if i want to make it. But to me its all gonna be worth it in the end cuz i know ill have a good time.

Another thing id like to convey ahead of time. Last FWA and at Anthrocon i was told that i a bit...well..hyper (and not in a good way)....like really clingy or something. Anywhoo i just want yall to know that if im bothering you or whatever then just tell me and ill stop. I know some people are afraid of hurting ones feelings and whatever and thats okay. But i just don;t feel like getting an inbox full of complaint about my conduct when i had no idea what was goin down. So just tell me if im out of line or whatever..

Anyways cant wait to go and see yall there.

Well its 2008 so i guess ill put up my con schedule.

1. Furry Weekend Atlanta (definite)

2. Pawpet Megaplex (looking good)

3. Anthrocon. (debating it)

As far as small stuff goes like King Elliots get-togethers or one of Latin Vixens lil shindigs ill cross those bridges when i get to them.

So far those are the cons im plannin on goin too for 2008. As for after summer cons like Mephit Fur Meet, Fur Fright, and Furloween, the jury's still out.
